Dubai Medical College was established in 1986 as a non-profit educational institution by Haj Saeed Bin Ahmed Al Lootah, with Prof. Zahira Abdeen as the founding Dean.

Dubai Medical College has achieved many accreditation milestones in the last 34 years. These are:

 

  • Since 1994, the college is accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, (now called Ministry of Education) United Arab Emirates.The college has complied with the Standards of Licensure and Accreditation put forward by the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA),  since its inception. The CAA is the highest authority for accrediting Higher Education institutions in UAE and ensures that all institutions of higher education follow stringent guidelines to meet international standards.   • International Recognition of MBBCh program

    • • DMC undergoes a continuous accreditation & reaccreditation process covering all areas of World Federation for Medical Education WFME standards and is scrutinized and evaluated by teams of visiting professors from reputed medical schools in USA.     • • DMC’s MBBCh program is enlisted in the WFME’s new international directory of medical colleges which entitles the graduates to meet ECFMG (Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates) and ACGME (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education) requirements.

    • • The recognition by WFME is an independent, transparent and rigorous method of ensuring that accreditation of medical schools worldwide is at an internationally accepted and high standard.

  • Currently, the college is enlisted in  WHO Directory of Medical Schools, International Medical Education Directory (IMED) and World Directory of Medical Schools. (http://www.wdoms.org/).

  • The medical degree awarded by the DMC is recognized by the General Medical Council, UK

  • The college has implemented the EFQM excellence model comparable to the Malcolm Baldrige model and was therefore awarded the Dubai Quality Award in 2011.

  • The college has also been recognized with the World Education Congress Award.

  • The college has also been awarded the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum (MRM) Award for Excellence in 2011.

  • The MBBCh degree of DMC has been recognized by individual medical boards of different countries in Europe, North America, Asia and Middle East.

  • Many DMC graduates have successfully completed their specialization/fellowship in US and Europe, and are working as consultants and subspecialists all over the world..
