Research Strategy
Research activity is integral to the function of Dubai Medical College for Girls (DMCG).
It is a core of the college’s mission to deliver research-led medical education for under and postgraduate students.
DMCG Research Strategy aims at:
- a) Developing distinctive areas of research excellence, led by different research teams that include biomedical sciences and medical education. Research should focus on the current challenges in health and social care encountered in national, regional, and global societies.
- b) Promoting collaboration in research between DMCG and different clinical and educational organizations, with the enhancement of research culture and activities in different working entities in-between collaborating bodies.
- c) Ensuring the continuity and integration of research activity, both horizontally between simultaneously active groups and projects, and vertically into future projects. This necessitates the gradual and systematic ( financial support, infrastructure, facilities, equipment, database, and well-trained technical expertise) to facilitate the research activity.

The currently available themes in DMCG are:
- Mental health
- Public health
- The metabolic syndrome.
- Neuroscience
- Cancer research.
- Genetic research
- Medical Education
DMCG aims to add newer Research themes in response to recent scientific developments in line with the envisaged demand of the UAE and Middle East societies.
The research themes could be subjected to continuous modification according to evidence of excellence and scientific productivity e.g., highly rated publications, newly developed international policies, and availability of external research funds and grants.
The research strategy also includes hosting journal club meetings to discuss selected research articles in a critical multidisciplinary environment. Those scheduled meetings are broadcasted through different channels including intranet, website, and as saved records.
